‘The Tale of Two Personalities’ is what 'IRUVAR' is all about. A fictional wrapper cloaked around the lifetimes of M.G.Ramachandran and M.Karunanidhi is brought to the visual celluloid by one of the better Indian Movie Maker Mani Ratnam.

Revolving around the characters of Anandan and Tamilselvan in the respective order, their blossoms of friendship, the differences, their dignified animosity is pictured with dexterity. The scenes regarding the dialogue exchange between the two individuals are the best moments in the movie. The dignified ways of their egoism definitely carves a niche as one of the well made scenes in movies.

The characterisation needs an applause. Be it the elite-Tamilselvan or the lovable-Anandan ManiRatnam's screenplay sure needs to be lauded. The actors provide life to the movie. Mohan Lal(Anandan) and Prakashraj(TamilSelvan) are at their potential best. Santosh Sivan with his soulful cinematography provides a mood which fits the aura of this 'period masterpiece'. Music for this film does not come at ease, but with A.R.Rahman around its no wonder. His songs are excellent, but his best package comes in the form of the BGM-One of the best soundtracks done for Cinema.A Wonderful Movie by a Wonderful Team.
